Carson at 5 months

Oh Mr. Cars-a-roni.... We cannot believe you are 5 months old.  You are a light in our lives and we cannot remember how life was without you.  Here are some things you are doing this month:

This month you were able to start baby cereal.  The first night you had it was on August 7th.  You have only had rice cereal and you seem to really like it.  You did so well with it and seemed to like eating so much that we also started you on baby food this month, on August 15th.  The first kind you had was squash, which you liked fine.  You have now had squash, bananas, carrots, peaches, and apples.  You are a bit hesitant with peaches but still eat it.  You eat some baby food and cereal now every night before going to bed.

You have gotten a little bit better at sleeping but still not great.  You still fight us like crazy to go to sleep but are doing better once you are actually in your bed.  You still wake up about 3 to 4 nights a week just to be soothed a bit but then go back to sleep.  It has helped that you have started sucking you fingers when you are sleeping because you are able to soothe yourself better.  You suck either the middle and ring fingers or the ring finger and pinkie.  It is pretty precious.

When Grandma babysits, this is how Carson takes naps.

You also like to suck on your big toe.  Thankfully, you don't do that while you are sleeping (that would be a bit weird) but you love to lay on the floor or sit in your highchair and suck on your big toe.  It is pretty funny.

You love to babble and coo.  You love when someone will talk to you and you just talk right back.  You don't giggle too much but when you do, it is one of the sweetest sounds!  One way to get you to giggle is to tickle your tummy and sides.  You are VERY ticklish!

You are a very content, happy, and smiley baby.  We get many comments about how good of a baby you are and Mom and Dad always have to agree.  You are a pretty special little boy.

My babies

"Brothers don't necessarily have to say anything to each other-they can sit in a room and be together and just be completely comfortable with each other."

Callen loves his brother.  I frequently catch him laying next to his brother somewhere or giving him kisses and hugs.  So sweet.

"A friend is a brother who was once a bother."  ~Author Unknown

Olivia says Carson is her baby brother and Callen is her baby bother.  But I think that little girl would be completely lost without them.

My babies sure are something special.

Carson at 4 months

Weight:  14 pounds, 13 ounces (48th percentile)
Height:  25 in. (53rd percentile)
Head circumference:  42.2 cm (48th percentile)

This month Carson was a big boy and started sleeping in his own room in his own crib.  The first night in his crib was July 13th, 2012.  He did pretty well in there.  However, he doesn't like to sleep EVER, but that is okay.  I have never seen a baby fight sleep as hard as he does.  Carson will be so tired but be trying so hard to keep his eyes open.

Since he doesn't like sleep, he is not a very good napper.  He will take one or two twenty minute cap naps in the mornings and in the afternoons, I have to rock him and sooth him to sleep and he will sometimes take a good three hour nap.  He usually wake up two or three times during those three hours though and has to be soothed back to sleep.

Carson also started waking up in the middle of the night again and needing a bottle.  This is the one time he usually falls asleep fast.  He is half asleep but he guzzles that bottle down at about 3:00 am and then back in bed by 3:45 am.

This month our Cars-a-roni has discovered his toes and likes to hold on to them when he is laying on his back.  He is awesome in the tub and kicks and plays the entire time.

Olivia and Callen still adore him and Mommy and Daddy think they will be great friends.

Carson also started to stand with support.

He loves to have anyone hold him and let him stand up.  He also loves when anybody will talk, sing, or just smile at him.  Every time he is given attention he gives the biggest gummy smiles and does the sweetest coos ever.  He is babbling a lot and love to have conversations with people.  He has also started to make these silly noises that sound like a pig grunting, it is very entertaining.

Carson is still a little cuddle bug and loves to nuzzle his way into anyone that is holding him.

Lou's 4th Birthday

Four years ago, our lives were forever changed when this little wonder entered the world.

Miss Olivia Chaliese turned four years old on July 20th.  Casey and I hung up balloons and party stuff around the house and when she woke up on her birthday she was very excited about it all.  She started the day by opening all her presents from us.  Her favorite was her pink puppy purse that was from her brothers.

Later that night we had a little birthday party for her.  She wanted a My Little Pony birthday so that is what she had.  Both sets of Grandparents were able to come and her best friend Emrie.  Her and Emrie always play so good together so we were happy her and her mommy and daddy were able to come out.

After playing and eating hamburgers and hot dogs, Lou opened up a her presents.

We saved one present for Olivia to get at her party, a bike.  We decided to get her one, even though we don't know how much she will ride it.  She has a slight crush on Diego (and he was 50% off) so she got that one.  Plus, now her brothers can maybe ride it when it is too small for her.

We also got a pinata for the kids to do.  It was a bit harder to brake then we thought but with a few extra powerful swings (with some parental help) the kids finally got 'er done!

After eating a bunch of candy from the pinata, it was time for cake and ice cream.  We sang Happy Birthday and after a few tries at the candles, Olivia finally blew out her candles.

Grandpa told the kids they could just get the frosting off with their fingers.
Aunt Reyna had to come a little late so Olivia got one last present after cake and ice cream.  And I guess she was saved the best for last because she LOVED this present.  It is not only her favorite birthday present but her favorite toy ever.  Good job Reyna and Brandon!

I think Olivia has a pretty good birthday.  We tried to make her feel extra special and have lots of fun.  She is our wonderful, smart, beautiful, sassy, smart, careful, delicious little girl.  I can't believe I only have one for year before she starts school (well, real school, preschool starts in the fall).

Happy birthday Olivia, here is to year four!!!
