August Roundup

Summer is almost over.  When did that happen?  It seems like August completely flew by.  I was so busy but now when I think about what I was busy with, I can't really think of much.  I guess running around with three crazy wonderful kids will do that to you though.  We started the month off with a wedding.  My brother married a beautiful girl named Reyna.  It was a small thing just at the courthouse and they will hopefully have a nice reception next summer.

The kids have had a fun summer as well.  Lots of time playing outside, trips to Kiwi Loco, boating, and time with Grandparents.  Olivia and Callen have been great buds this year and play really well together.  They love playing in the sprinkler and making mud, helping me water the flowers and playing with squirt guns.  They fight over the tricycle and pretend they are riding ponies on their golf clubs.  They are silly and goofy and lovely.

Olivia is... Olivia.  It is hard to describe my first born child.  Smart?  Very.  Independent?  Very much so.  Determined to push my buttons daily? Oh yeah.  But oh how I love this girl.  She can be making me want to pull my hair out one minute and then say some witty comment to me that I can't help but laugh at.  She is very full of life and knows what she wants in life.

She loves for me to tell her stories.  Not read books (but she likes that too) but make up stories for her.  We lay in her bed and she will give me the things she wants in it (like Dora, Diego, Pinkie Pie, and Cinderella) and it is my job to make a story.  Sometimes I wish she would just let me cuddle with her without a story but with Lou, I take any cuddling I can get.

She loves her back scratched, her brown blanket, chicken nuggets, and sliced cheese.

She is starting Preschool on the 4th.  She says she is excited but I am a bit nervous.

Olivia has an amazing imagination and will run around a good part of the day playing with different imaginary characters.  She loves to pretend to be a pirate, a cowgirl, a mommy, a pet store owner, and member of Team Umizoomi.

She is hilarious.  She says some awesome things.  Here are some of her latest and greatests:

"Mom, come over here and dance with your Father."

"Your mother is talking to you."

(After visiting Daddy at work during our monthly date to show him her new Cinderella backpack, talking about the people at Casey's work) "I'm going to have to bring my backpack back here when I go trick or treating, everyone sure liked it."

(Walking out of Daddy's work that same day) Lou: "Yuck, do you smell that?"
Me:  "I don't smell anything."
Lou:  "It smells like cat poop."

Lou:  "Mom, we need to start saying morning prayers."
Me:  "Well we say our family prayers at night."
Lou:  "Well, we need to say morning ones too."
Me:  "You're probably right, we can start saying morning prayers."
Lou:  "It's okay, we just need to work at it a little bit at a time and then we will get better at it, okay?"
(Always good to be chastised by your four year old)

(Looking up at the sky while sitting with Papa) "Looks like a storms coming in."

(After Dexter, our dog, got sick and had diarrhea on the floor and talking on a toy phone) "Hello, police??  Yeah, you need to come pick up our dog, he is real naughty and pooped on the floor.... Uh-huh.... yeah.... okay.... goodbye.  They are on their way."
Lou had curlers in so of course Callen needed some too.
She also has this new thing when she is talking to her brothers.  She will refer to herself as Big Sister.
"Callen, you need to let your Big Sister have a turn."
"You need to share with you Big Sister."
"Are you smiling at your Big Sister??"

Oh Miss Olivia, you make me run the gauntlet with emotions each day, but oh how I love you and would not change you for the world.

Callen is my boy.  He is a bit of sweet and a whole lot of mischief.  This kid is straight crazy and I know he will be my first child to the ER for a broken bone or stitches.  He is a boy.  He loves to growl, push trucks around, tackle, throw balls, jump off EVERYTHING, and play in mud.

But he is so sweet and cuddly and still adores his Momma.  He needs his daily snuggles and frequently will come in my bed in the mornings and let me snuggle him for about 30 minutes before everyone else wakes up.  I love that boy.

Who knew a simple doughnut could make such a mess?

He loves chocolate, fruit, and his siblings.

He will be TWO in a week!! What?!?!?

He is suppose to only have a binkie at night now (which he needs two, one for his mouth and one to hold) but this little turkey will stash binkies around the house and then go find them throughout the day.  I am constantly taking a binkie out of his mouth and then look back and he has pulled another one out from who knows where.

He is still not talking much but gets his point across pretty good still.  A couple of his funny sayings are:

Me "Cal, are you my baby?"
Callen: "Bo (which means no).  Car-car (Carson)."
Me: "Are you my big boy?"
Callen: "Bo"
Me:  "Well, what are you?"
Callen: (with his index and thumb up) "Two!"

(Anytime he wants a turn for something) "Me! Me! Me!"

Callen is my sweet boy that knows he is oh so cute and I think if he would let me, I could snuggle and kiss him all day.

Carson is our quiet, easy, content child.  He is ticklish, smiley, and snuggley.

He is so sweet and looking more and more like his Big Sister everyday.

We love our Carser and can't wait to see what his little personality will bring to this already exciting family.

Our summer has been busy, hot, and fun. On to September... time to bring on Preschool, 2nd birthdays, and construction of a new house!!!
