I paint

"I paint"

Those are words a mother does not like to hear from her two year old, especially when you look at that two year old and she has fingernail polish all over her hands.
Olivia likes to play with my "little lotions," also known as fingernail polish. She likes to line them up and group them by size and color. She can play with the little lotions for a good 30-40 minutes at a time, which to a mother is heaven sent. She had never painted with them before.

Today she apparently learned that the little lotions can be opened. I had just given Callen a bath and was in getting him dressed when my daughter comes in and asks me if I can open the purple little lotion. I look down and see pink and red and blue sparkles all over my daughters hands, in her hair, and on her shirt. GREAT! I ask her, "Lou, what did you do?"

Her reply... "I paint."
After a good laugh, a good scrub of my cupboards with fingernail polish remover, and a nice bath for my little artist, I made sure all the tops of the little lotions are on tight and put out of reach. Hopefully there is no more painting going on in my house anytime soon.
