Callen Russell Payne

Callen Russell decided to come into the world on September 9, 2010 at 4:03 AM. He was 6 pounds, 9 ounces and 19 inches long. He is exactly 1 ounce smaller than his sister was and same length. He will just have to catch up I guess!!!

Here is the birth recap...

We were suppose to be going in to be induced Wednesday night. I called around 5:30 to see if a room was available. They said they were really busy and would call when one was ready. I wasn't expecting to go in until about 9 anyways, so that I would have him on the 9th and not on the 8th, which is our anniversary. Nine o'clock rolls around and still no call to go in. So we were all getting anxious and decided that since we were home we should all get some sleep.

Casey and I got ready, into bed, and started watching the news when I started having bad cramps. I told Casey I though I could be going into labor and he thought I was just being silly. I started to keep track and these "cramps" were about 15 minutes apart. I decided to try to sleep and thought they would end up going away. Around 11:00 I woke up because they were really bad and now only 5 minutes apart!! We decided to head up to the hospital. We finally got to the hospital around 1:00 AM. I started having bad contractions and for some reason they were slow to get me an epidural. I finally got my epidural around 3:00 AM and then at about 3:20 they said I was at a 8. We started pushing around 3:50 and at 4:03 I was holding my precious baby boy!!! It was all so quick and great. The actually pushing went really good, I was actually laughing while pushing because my doctor and nurse were being hilarious!!! I guess since we couldn't get a room for induction, Callen decided to take matters into his own hands and come on his own (For the hospital's defense, they were busy and 6 babies were born that night!! They were all running around crazy!).

Here is our new little family of four. At first Olivia didn't know what to think about and was a little scared of him. When we asked her if we should take him home or put him back in Mommy's tummy she said back in Mommy's tummy. But when we did get home, she started dancing and cheering "I have a baby brother!" Now she says we should keep him and likes him. She even got a little defensive when she thought my cousin and aunt were going to take him home. They got up to leave and my cousin, Kindra, was holding him. Olivia stands up, put her hands on her hips, and says "you can't take my baby brother home" with as much authority as she could. It was pretty cute!!

Before we went to the hospital we had his name down to either Caleb or Carson and thought we would decide after we saw him. Well, we saw him and decided he wasn't a Caleb OR a Carson but a Callen. We had thought of Callen before but not really seriously for some reason. We really like it because it starts with a C for Casey and then is Allen, which is my Dad's middle name. Then Russell is Casey's middle name, his dad's middle name, his grandfather's name, and his mom's maiden name!! So his name kind of covers both sides of the family!!
Going home

The new big sister!!

Looks like his daddy, such a handsome boy!!
So far we have LOVED having a new little one in our house. I feel great and am recovering really well, a little tired but that is expected. And Callen is going great too and eats like a champ. I feel like I am constantly nursing!! We just got back from his 2 day checkup and he is up to 6 lbs 8 oz. He dropped to 6 lbs 4 oz at the hospital and the doctors like them to be back at birth weight by their 2 week appointment, so he has 1 oz to go!! I think he will be there and over by then!!
